Our Projects

The TransArtivistProject.org has a lot going on this year, and more projects being planned.  Check out some of our upcoming projects for 2021, and see what we're trying to line up as we are better able to meet the needs of our trans community.

Trans Pride 2021 Gender Euphoria Paint Pour Party

Remember the first time that you figured out your gender? How great it felt to be in your body? Like all the parts of your body just thrummed in excitement? How you could feel every hair on your head, smell things that were a block away, taste the colour of the sunset, and hear the smile on your face? How you felt inside when someone finally got your pronouns right?

Tap into your memory of Gender Euphoria while making colourful paintings using an easy and fun painting technique: Acrylic Pour

The TransArtivistProject.org will be running two Paint Pour Parties  during Pride, in collaboration with Guelph Pride, ARCH, and Free Mom Hugs. Each Party will have a maximum of 30 participants, and is being held for anyone on the transgender spectrum in the Guelph area; trans, non-binary, gender-fluid, intersex, and those who are Two-Spirit are also welcome.

One party will be held for trans youth and families, another will be held for trans individuals that are 18+. Both will take place on June 12th, 2021.

Please register by June 6th HERE so that we can get your kit(s) to you in time.

Mutable Objects Photo Essay

As we change and come into our identity as transgender, wherever we are on the spectrum, not only do we change, but so do everyday objects in our environs. If not physically, these objects change their importance or relevance. They change in terms of how we interact with them, and how we feel about them. They change because of our attitudes, the things we now allow ourselves to do in order to affirm our inner selves, and to enact them in the world.

This project aims to illustrate, through photography, photo-editing, and storytelling our changing perspectives on these everyday items. Because this is an ongoing process, there is no close date for the project. However, we would love to see your submitted photo essays by July 13th, 2021.

Here's the working page for the Mutable Objects Photo Essay Project - more coming soon!

Out Loud - Trans Voices Project

It's hard to live our life as trans, non-binary, gender non-conforming people when our voice doesn't always necessarily match our identity. When, every time we turn around, someone misgenders us. Or, maybe it's just jarring to hear our voice in our head and reflect that it doesn't sound the way we think we "should."

But there can be joy in learning to love our voice - to raise our voice, and to live out loud. That's what this project is all about - learning to explore our voices, as they are, to celebrate our sound, and to live out loud. Learn more here.

Ongoing Project - Trans Artivist Collective

As a way to support the personal autonomy of trans individuals, especially artists, the TransArtivistProject.org has founded the Trans Artivist Collective.
The Trans Artivist Collective uses artwork to which we have been given permission to use, to create attractive, and functional personal and household items. Everything from shower curtains, bath mats, stainless steel water bottles, and fashionable dresses, tees, and sneakers. Each purchase supports a transgender artist, and a portion of the sale also supports the many other projects of the TransArtivistProject.org
